SWiB Policies & Good Practice

Although SWiB is not an official public repository, we have made efforts to work to the following key national standards, recommendations and agendas for good archival practice:

- BS5454:2000 Recommendations for the Storage and Exhibition of Archival Documents.
- ISAD(G) International Standard for Archival Description:2000
- The National Archives Standard for Records Repositories:2004
- The Standard for Access to Archives:2008 (The National Council on Archives)
- ILFA Inspiring Learning for All (Museums, Libraries and Archives Council)

Our qualified Archivist Stacey Dyer has worked in several heritage related establishments: as a project cataloguing assistant and archive assistant with Plymouth & West Devon Record Office (2003-2005); a project records management analyst with Cornwall County Council (2006); and as an archive assistant at Cornwall Record Office with a part time secondment in archive documentation at the Courtney Library (Royal Cornwall Museum) from 2006-2007. Stacey has a BA(hons) in History (2002) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Archive Administration (2008) and is currently undertaking registration with the Society of Archivists through which she has attended/will be attending a series of official training events pertaining to the ongoing care and presentation of archives.

SWiB is recognised by the Community Archives & Heritage Group as an official point of contact for those looking to set up community archive projects in Plymouth. Visit the Community Archives Network website to view the complete directory.
