Overview
Outreach is an integral feature of our work in promoting the value of our collections and the benefits of the image bank to the wider community.
As part of our on-going outreach work, we produce many local exhibitions making use of the rich and diverse images from the WMN collection. The SWiB Archivist also delivers talks and presentations to interested parties. We are happy to arrange tours of the image bank for groups and societies upon request. We are also undertaking several large-scale projects as an extension to our ongoing outreach responsibilities.
We provide consultancy and support to other projects which has also opened up the potential to work together towards the public accessibility of the region's visual archives. More recently, we have given support to the Royal Cornwall Museum, the Tavistock Photo Archive and the Plymouth DNA Photographic Project (Stoke Damerel Community College).
SWiB is featured regularly on Radio Devon with our monthly Collection of the Month feature. This helps us to promote a particular collection to the wider public; presenting an overview of the collection, the story behind it and how people can access the collection through SWiB.
Our images are also featured regularly in the Plymouth Extra and Herald papers as part of Chris Robinsons Looking Back feature.
