Image of the Month Feature - February 2010
PD/42/1/3 Plymouth Hoe, 1880s-1900s
This month's image has been chosen from our John Boulden Collection by Julia Escott, SWiB volunteer.
"I was instantly drawn to this image because of the stark contrast between the light background and dark clothing of the men in the foreground.
The background would appear timeless from when this photo was captured over a century ago, it still seems the same as it is now but the characters in the foreground are so evocative of the Hoe and Plymouth's long-standing association with the sea."
